About Dolcetto

Recipe by Darby in Dolcetto

Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes to Cook at Home Dolcetto translates as “the little sweet one” but the wines are more often quite dry and even have a bitter cherry flavour. Other flavours you might detect are raspberries, rhubarb and prunes.

Dolcetto makes simple red wines with low to moderate acidity and tannins, in other words they are easy drinking rather than great or noble wines. The grapes and the wines have a deep red colour.

Don’t let that put you off. They can be interesting wines to accompany a variety of foods, including antipasto, lighter Mediterranean foods and even Asian cuisine.
